Pocahontas

This Doll represents Pocahontas

According to one of many stories about her, Pocahontas an Indian Princess, the daughter of Powhatan, the powerful chief of the Algonquian Indians in the Tidewater region of Virginia.

Was born in 1595, Died March 1617

She was buried in a churchyard in Gravesend, England She was 22 years old.

Pocahontas played a significant role in American history. As a compassionate little girl she saw to it that the colonists received food from the Indians so that Jamestown would not become another "lost colony"

To this day many stories are told about her and her life.

She is poured in Bell's Indian Flesh and has a dowel from the bottom of her foot to just under her breast plate.

I met Gwen Ross at a doll show one time and told her I wanted to make Jade about 42 inches. I ask her advice and she said that I would probably like the lady shoulder plate better with a taller Jade so that is why I use that one.

She is dressed in Deere Skin and the trim with beads are all hand done. I styled her wig, it is the Indian Wig from Kemper.

I love Jade and have from the first time I saw her.
